I am just sitting here watching my watering system work. I’ve kind of got this thing down to a science.
I have a timer that I use for workouts. It’s kind of like what they do for boxing where you go for 3 minutes and then you rest for one. I used to think that a bunch of 7 minute rounds worked pretty good. But then I started watering the field.
It takes about 20 minutes to give a good soak to 52 m. And of course the wind etc. But what I found is that if I set my timer to 20 minutes with a 5-minute rest, I don’t need to play with the electricity at all. I just run down there and do my job every time the bill says go.
For what it’s worth, 25 minutes with a 5-minute break works really well for practical English. Just do your job and read the text and put together as many sentences as you can using the method and trying to be free of mistakes. At 25 minutes, when the bill tells you to take a rest, have a look around and see what your essay looks like so far. Ask yourself what you need to do to finish and what sorts of points are important enough to be included. Maybe also you can get rid of information that’s not necessary. All this is called editing but when you just take a moment to rest and think about what you’re doing, this is called careful planning and it helps too. Then go back and do your last 25 minutes before stopping for the last 5 minutes of your time to make sure that everything is in order.
I could get into how Shabbos falls into this idea pretty darn well but that might be unnecessary information to add here. I might also add that finishing your work early means that you have more free time at the end of the week. Just like me right now for example.
